She / Her
It wasn't until two years after starting my business that I was diagnosed with ADHD, and for the first time, I finally felt like I understood myself. Part of me felt relieved—I finally understood why I felt so different from everyone else and why simple tasks always brought challenges. Although the diagnosis provided relief, I still struggled to manage my symptoms effectively.
If you're an entrepreneur with ADHD, it may be harder to focus on a task or goal to completion. You might be more prone to procrastination and easily distracted by other projects or chores. It may seem that everyone else is just better at managing their time. Having a neurodiverse brain in a neurotypical world is exhausting.
When I learned more about myself, I began to understand my ADHD differently. I was able to deal with the constant shame in a productive way. I learned the importance of understanding the differences in my brain, and functioning in ways that are consistent with these differences. This has helped me in my approach to business as an entrepreneur. I still struggle with symptoms daily, but I've learned how to respond to my symptoms more effectively.
I find myself living a life that is more aligned with my values and beliefs because of the changes I've made in handling the challenges that ADHD brings. Now that I have the tools to better manage my symptoms, I understand how to help other women entrepreneurs who share the same condition and empower them to live the life they desire. Throughout my journey, I've learned that my true passion is helping other women with ADHD discover who they are and all that they have to offer.
